Objectives
Fruit and vegetable decay, leading to economic and other invested resources loses, can be caused by disorders or diseases. Currently, the European fruit growing sector is lacking for tools related to crop diseases, freely and plain writing. So, the objective of KICRO is to provide the sector (farmers and packinghouses’ staff) with tools to improve their knowledge and better identify crop diseases and their causes for sustainable food safety, through a E-learning platform in 5 languages.

Activities
The main activities of KICRO project are crops and diseases selection; creation of a E-learning platform with the educational material, based on the crops and diseases selection; realisation of a physical one-week training for the partners; realisation of an online pilot test training to 50 participants; dissemination of the project and the E-learning to stakeholders and society; and realisation of one multiplier event in each country with 40 people/country to present the project’s outputs.

Impact
The main outputs are an E-learning platform with educational material related to crop diseases (in 5 languages); 12 trained researchers/technicians and 50 trained participants to use the E-learning platform; published website and social media; and one multiplier event in each country (40 people/country). With all of these, the project aims to create awareness on the importance of empowering the fruit-growing sector with these tools and get their motivation the use of the E-learning platform.
